I noticed that the 1920s-built Mason Temple is for sale in downtown Quincy. Quincy has been working on a major revitalization for a while now and I've often thought that they need some arts down there—and why not a theatre? This little passion project was just for fun, over a long weekend. We planned a dreamy season, opening with 1776 to celebrate Quincy through John Quincy Adams. Big musicals are the name of the game, sprinkled with crowd favorites. Mourning Becomes Electra is high on my list of bests-of-the-best and it would be fun to take on that challenge. (Tell me, how would you make a 9-hour long, Civil War-set telling of the Orestian trilogy marketable?) Oh...and we gave some sweet gigs to our friends.
So, this is just a little dream—or maybe we'll find a couple million dollars lying around. Of course, there's always Powerball.
